Basement Update.....

Here's an update on the basement construction.... Almost done!!! With one room at least! Here are pics of Jessica's soon to be bedroom. All that's left is outlet covers, shelves in the closet, and carpet, give or take some big ideas from the child. The room is painted a green color, but its hard to see the true color in all the different lights/angles.

Looking into the room from the family room. Tomorrow the carpet layers come to measure then we will go pick it out and hopefully get it installed fairly soon... then the child can move!! Hope so, since she has basically already moved out of her current room!!

The Oldest turns 14!!

Another year and oldest daughter gets older :( It makes me sad realizing really just how much longer she might actually live with me. She is starting HS this fall and it doesn't seem possible. Just 14 years ago she was so small and tiny and new, depending on me for everything. Ahhhh. And now, she can't hardly stand to be in the same room with me! I want my ity bity baby back!!

Well yet another round of hair cuts in our household....Jess is the only hold out at this point. Kim wanted something easier and cooler for summer and I followed her lead.....

Phase 3......

Today, at the end of the month when the extra $$ is available, I had phase 3 of the basement construction done. This time what is going to be Jessica's bedroom was mostly dry-walled, taped and mudded, and more wiring done for outlets. We are concentrating on getting this room done first, so that maybe by the end of July, I can finally have my house back in order, with all kids moved to their new rooms and all my stuff out of storage in spots in the rest of the house and garage. We shall see!!

The Grass is Greener.....

Thanks to my efforts earlier this spring and all the rain we've had lately, I have grass starting to grow in the back and side yard where the basement people tore up the yard in the process. I need to fill in those areas that aren't growing well or that I missed the on the first go around, but I'm just happy its greener than it was!!

This past weekend me and my s/o left Missouri and headed for his hometown McPherson KS to spend some time together, see his family, and celebrate my graduation from college..again :) It was nice to get away, even if it was only 4 hours away. We visited his favorites sites around town, visited with his mother and his brother's family, and played tourist a little bit.



This is a pic from the Cosmosphere that is affiliated with the Smithsonian in Hutchinson. It has a museum about the history of space travel along with several interesting displays related to moon missions. We also went to the IMAX theater and the planetarium and some shows there while we were here. Good way to spend a day.

Graduation time again.....

It's graduation time again for me....I have finally completed my BSN!! After two long years of online classes and many, many clinical hours.. Here is an old photo from my first college graduation with my ADN nine years ago... it doesn't really seem like its been that long! Anyway, I posted this old photo because I have decided to not attend commencement this time around even though some at work think I should be going.... Me and the paramedic are going out of town for a weekend minus kiddos to celebrate. Yeah me for finishing another goal in life!!

The reused door...I had the one taken off the entrance to the family room since its never closed anyway, and its now going to be the door to the room. Yeah me... recycling something. HA.

So... as I get money basement construction continues. Not much progress since the last pics, but better than none at all. Today the closet was studded in completely and the electrical as well as duct work for heat/ac done, and a door moved. Much more to go...... but its at least moving forward.

Progress is being made on the basement.......who knows when it will all be done though!! Only as I get more $$$ and more $$$$ and more $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ :)
